Health and Human Services

The objective of the Health and Human Services facet is to promote and facilitate programs that support the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, health advocacy, and optimal utilization of health resources. The areas of emphasis are cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and organ, tissue and blood donation.

Program Highlights

  • HeartLinks to Heart Health - encourage Link members and communities to take an aggressive stance against heart disease, the number one killer of African-American women.
     

  • Linkages to Life: Organ Tissue and Bone Marrow Donation Awareness Program - educate membership and the African-American community about the importance of and need for organ, tissue, and bone marrow donation.
     

  • Walk for Healthy Living - teach others that healthy, sustained lifestyle changes can induce and reduce the incidence of many diseases.
